Nuvi 765T
Strengths: Good GPS receiver. Traffic monitoring capability (at no added cost) will prove handy.
Weaknesses: Short battery life. Internal noises may mean it has a hard drive with high power needs? Loses route when turned off. Downloading map and software from the web took hours with high speed access.
Summary: This thing has a dangerous flaw. The "Nearest intersection" shown in "Where am I?" was more than 1 1/2 mile distant when there were hundreds of closer intersections (the nearest being 400 ft away at the time). Don't expect emergency help to find you in a timely fashion! The touch screen on mine is flaky. The "touch" must be very precise and even then it's likely to activate something on the other side of the screen. Millions of POIs sounds great but it fails to list 2 of the 3 gas stations nearest my home. When driving between Sacramento and Travis AFB in CA, the names shown for streets intersecting the freeway differed from signs posted about half the time (when outside city areas). These POIs, streets and signs have been there for multiple decades. No excuse for this! It can't find its way out of parking lots to continue a journey or begin a new trip. I have a TomTom Go 300 that's about 5 years old and works better than this Nuvi 765T in the most important respects. I'll be returning the Nuvi.
